Mellben Signature, Battle of Crabs?

Did you know, Mellben Signature has relocated to Tanjong Pagar Plaza instead of Bestway Building? 
Crabs are seriously addictive as you learn how to crack their hard shells with your bare hands. It feels like you're battling with the crab itself.(I don't know what I am saying.) 

Founded in 1988 when they first established from a small stall along Alexandra Road, it has expanded into various outlets island wide, showcasing a range of luscious seafood and Chinese cuisine with a strong Singaporean identity by using high-quality ingredients.

So what are some of the dishes that you must try. AND IT'S A DIE DIE MUST TRY.

Australian Baby Abalone in Superior Sauce ($12/pc)

Accompanied with juicy broccoli and mushrooms, especially when you chew the abalone, it gives off a tangy and smooth texture.

Stir Fried Garlic Chives with Shimeji ($20/$30/$40)

A simple and light dish for you to start with. The garlic cloves are so intimating and addictive(because I love garlic). The shimeji mushrooms are chewy and juicy as well. 

Seafood Crispy Beancurd ($12/$15/$18)

Crispy and elegant seafood beancurd for you? Well, I'm not a big fan of beancurd YET BUT STILL. The moment when you bite the seafood beancurd, you can hear from your mouth, that crispy crunch. I will prefer it with rice because I think I'm just that weird. (I'm brought up this way btw)

Salted Egg Pork Ribs ($15/$20/$30)

Glazed looking salted egg pork ribs at your service. You can taste the infusion of the salted egg with the pork ribs. Ribs are pretty hard and meatless but I'm surprised that Mellben Signature serves meaty pork ribs.. WITH SALTED EGGSSSS.

Claypot Crab Bee Hoon Soup ( Seasonal Price) 

The soup base is as gorgeous as how you actually feel when you are dying of thirst and there's a can of coca cola in front of you. Milky soup base, along with 粗米粉(Rough Beehoon). 

Icy-Chilled Sweet & Sour Pork ($15/$20/$30)

Have you ever heard of sweet and sour pork but served with ice and longan? Yes, you've heard it yourself, you've seen it yourself. Even though it's served chill, but the meat can sustain its crispiness. The perfect dish if you're feeling hot. (The ice can melt easily so you better eat fast.)

Braised Beehoon Crab(Seasonal Price)

I am not a big fan of bee hoon because there is no texture or any volume but however, with sprinkles of black pepper and vegetable in it, I can really taste the braised sauce along with the crab, infused with the bee hoon and that's what makes it delicious and delectable. As for the crab, this is my first time cracking and peeling of the crab shell because I'm pampered.

Deep Fried Marble Goby in Homemade Thai Sauce(Seasonal Price)

Days like this I want to fish away. Their deep fried marble goby is really crispy inside out with their specially homemade Thai sauce. It feels like I'm back to Bangkok. Sawadeekup! The flesh of the meat was really smooth and soft.

Mellben Signature Chilli Crab(Seasonal Price)

Our Singapore most significant dish is..... Of course, chilli crab. The sauce was sweet and spicy, goes pretty well with their fried mantou. At first, I thought crabs are supposed to be hard and stale but Mellben Signature's crab are seriously silky and juicy. (Sorry, my first time eating crab so actually I'm talking crap...).

I still miss their fried mantou.. It goes well with anything... 

Creamy Butter Crab(Seasonal Price)
Well, at first I thought it was salted egg crab because it tastes similar to it. With curry leaves, it enhance the taste for the sauce to full potential, along with the crab. One of the delicacy you must try when you're in Mellben Signature! 

Double-Boiled Hasma with Red Dates

You need a sweet treat after every meal. Common sense. I really love their dessert because it tasted like Chng-Tng (清汤), a miracle dessert whereby it helps you to put out the fire in your body as you know, especially Chilli Crab, it's heaty.

Alight at Tanjong Pagar MRT station. 
Take Exit A. Walk toward Orchid Hotel. 
Walk to Tanjong Pagar Road and cross the traffic light. You should reach there in less than 5 mins.
